Google Analytics Ecommerce Tracking
Follow the steps below to set-up Google Analytics' Ecommerce Tracking:
- You will need a Google Analytics account and make sure that your GA tracking code is installed on your site's design template.
- Review the Set up Ecommerce Tracking help file from Google. Follow the instructions under Enable Ecommerce in your reports. You must turn on the Enable Ecommerce option before GA can track any orders.
- In your webstore's admin area, navigate to Shop > Settings > Base Settings > Checkout tab. You will need to set-up the following settings, all of them are required:
- google_analytics_ecommerce_tracking_on: Set this to yes to turn it on.
- google_analytics_ecommerce_account: This is your Google Analytics Account number that you want your orders sent to.
- google_analytics_ecommerce_store_name: This is is the store name that will be sent to Google Analytics for shop orders.
Troubleshooting
If your orders are not being recorded, please check the following:
- Confirm that your GA Account number in the settings area is correct and does not have any spaces at the beginning or end of the number.
- Confirm that Ecommerce Tracking is enabled in your GA Account. The process to turn it on is several steps, requiring you to toggle the ON setting, click the Next button, and then finally Submit the settings. You must follow all the way through to the end of the process to actually turn it on.
