InfiPlex Inventory & Order Management System (OMS) includes an Inventory Buffer tool (Inventory --> Inventory Buffers) that gives sellers the ability to control inventory for specific SKUs and marketplaces to ensure that they do not oversell a product.
Using the Inventory Buffer
Inventory Buffers allow administrators to define an inventory level for a specific SKU where the system will start sending an inventory level of 0 to the marketplaces. An inventory buffer can be used to ensure that a particular SKU always sends 0 inventory to a specific marketplace or set of marketplaces by setting a very high buffer. You can also use a buffer to define a higher buffer for a fast selling product on a particular marketplace to ensure that it does not oversell.
Any defined buffer will override the default inventory_set_to_zero setting that is available for each marketplace. (Settings --> Select the Integrations from the dropdown --> inventory_set_to_zero)
The Inventory Buffer tool works by creating a .csv file with the following columns.
- sku: the sku number
- exclusions: marketplaces the buffer will NOT be applied to. The 3 letter abbreviations are listed on the Inventory Buffer page. Separate multiples by a comma.
- buffer: the inventory level of the buffer
- enabled: 1 = On 0 = Off. Rows that are off are removed from the list.
Example: If a buffer is set to 15 and the inventory for that SKU equals 15 or lower, the inventory sent to the marketplaces will be 0. The Exclusions filter defines marketplaces that will ignore this buffer. Exclusion marketplaces will use the default inventory_set_to_zero setting defined for each marketplace.
