The Business Directory

Last Updated: Oct 14, 2016

Once the Business Directory app is installed in a site area (via the Sitearea admin tools), it is populated via the Business Directory Application (found under installed applications on the InfiPlex dashboard).

The directory can be divided into categories which are organizational. There must be at least one category. An example of a category might be a 'department',  'function' or 'location'. Once you have your categories set, you can add entries.

To Add an entry into the directory, use the Business Directory Add tab. The Description field would be used for a profile/bio.

If you enter a street address, city and state and click the Get Coordinates button, the Latitude and Longitude fields will be filled in. This can then be used with a mapping application or custom coding on your site.

The Contact fields (i.e. Contact Name, Contact Title, Contact Phone, etc) are the fields that are pulled through to the user side page on a standard business directory page (one without custom modifications).

Customizing the Directory Pages

The Business Directory can be easily customized to fit your design and needs. Our design friendly JavaScript API will allow any designer familiar with HTML and JavaScript to make the pages look anyway they want.

Putting the Directory on Your Menu

When a Business Directory is installed in a site area, two system pages are added to you page listing.  Those pages are business_directory.php and business_directory_detail.php. You will need to apply your site template to those pages (via PC content tab of the page) and place them where you want them in your navigation (via the page's navigation tab) as you would any other page.
