If you are new to blogs, a blog is a collection of posts. You can have any number of blogs on your site and any number of blog authors. How you organize a blog(s) is up to you. It can be a collection of posts by one author a number of authors posting to one blog.
When you make a post to a blog on InfiPlex, you will need to indicate which blog you are posting to and what category this blog post belongs to.
Creating a Blog
To begin a blog on your site, login to the admin side of your site and click on the InfiPlex logo to get to the main dashboard. From the main dashboard, click on the purple Blog app. If you don't have any existing blogs on your site you will first need to add a blog via the Blog Add tab. You will also need to add a minimum of one category.
Blog Settings:
Friendly URL: This is the friendly URL of this particular blog. You can create your own or let the system generate one for you. You can then create a link to this blog by using the friendly URL.
Post Comment Moderation Emails: If you allow comments on the posts for this blog, these are the email addresses (comma separated) that will be notified that someone has added a comment that needs to be approved.
External Blog Feed: If you are using a third party feed service (i.e. Feedburner, Aweber, etc.) this would be the URL as provided by the third party service.
Making a Blog Post
Click on the Post Add tab to create a Blog post. Give it a title and friendly URL. The abstract is a brief description of what the article is about. The abstract appears on the first page of the Blog (friendly URL of the blog title).
The Post Content is the main article.
The Post Date is the date that the post should start displaying. This date can be either in the past and/or future but the post will not display until the date is current (or past).
Categories, a post can belong in more than one category. A user will have the ability to filter posts by category.
Tags are any keywords that might apply to the post. A user can search on tags to find posts.
Author name and Author Email are optional.
Disqus is a third party comment hosting service.
Allow Post Comment indicates whether or not viewers will be allowed to comment on the post.
Published, indicates whether the post is active or not (provided the date is current or past).
Meta tags these fields are used for sharing on social media.
Meta Image is the image that will be used when someone uses the social media icons to share the post on social media. The recommended image size for sharing on facebook is 1200 x 630 px.
Adding the Blog to Your Menu
Once you have created a blog and made a post, the blog will be found on the blog.php page of your site. If the blog.php page (on the user side of your site) does not display within your template (www.yourdomain/blog.php), you will need to apply the template to the blog system pages.The blog system pages are found in the page list of the Page app on the main dashboard (click on the InfiPlex logo).
If you want one page to list all the blogs in your site, you would add the blog.php to your menu through the navigation settings of that page.
If you want to display just one blog on a page you would create a new page (with the page app), apply the template to the page and route to the blog's friendly URL through the Link field on the Navigation tab.(read more)
