The InfiPlex Inventory and Order Management System (OMS) gives eCommerce sellers the ability to effectively manage inventory to eliminate overselling.
Automated Inventory Management
One of the most important aspects of growing your eCommerce sales on your website or sales channels is the effective automation of inventory level updates. The goal is to ensure that you do not oversell any particular SKU, as overselling can cause your marketplace account to be downgraded or even suspended if it happens often. Having to cancel an order on any marketplace is something that an eCommerce seller should avoid.
If you are manually managing inventory over multiple marketplaces, InfiPlex can instantly help you manage inventory automatically and will easily pay for itself by saving you time and helping you keep and grow your seller ratings on all your sales channels. Better seller ratings means better sales.
Marketplace Level Control
When inventory is running low on a fast moving SKU, it is imperative that marketplaces are notified of inventory changes as quickly as possible. However, even with an almost real-time inventory control, it can be easy to oversell as buyers on Amazon and Walmart buy the last piece of inventory at approximately the same time.
To eliminate this scenario, InfiPlex offers the ability to define the marketplace that you want to sell out on, making sure that as inventory gets low, other marketplaces are sent a 0 inventory level to stop selling on those marketplaces. The Sell Out On Marketplace is given your actual inventory level which enables you to make sure that you don't oversell any SKU.
Inventory Buffers at a SKU Level
Sometimes certain SKUs require different settings to control what inventory level to send a 0 inventory for and/or what marketplaces to sell out on. Our Inventory Buffers tool allows you to control this capability at a SKU level.
Complexities with High Sale SKUs
As you consider your approach to managing inventory, one of the key factors is sales volume. A fast selling SKU on multiple marketplaces that is low on inventory will easily cause an oversold situation. One of the main reasons this occurs is that any system pulling orders is reliant on how marketplaces and their API's work. Although many orders on a marketplace are released to the API to get pulled within a few minutes, there are instances where there is a much longer time between the actual order and the time it is available to the API to get pulled. In some cases this can be over an hour from the time the actual order was placed.
There are multiple reasons for this, but the primary reason is the required fraud checks that must be applied to every order. Each marketplace has a built-in delay to go through their standard checks to guarantee that every order is valid. If your fast selling SKU, with only 2 left in stock, is listed on 5 different marketplaces, it is likely that having this SKU on multiple marketplaces in a low inventory level will cause an oversold situation. If a single marketplace has the last 2 in stock and the others show 0, there is no chance that it will oversell.
