HD Supply Integration FAQs: MRO orders, backed by Home Depot's stability

HD Supply is a leading national distributor of maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) products for the multifamily and hospitality markets — and has operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of The Home Depot since a ~$8 billion acquisition closed in December 2020. The InfiPlex™ Inventory & Order Management System (OMS) connects your HD Supply vendor relationship so purchase orders pull in automatically, the EDI documents HD Supply requires go out on time, and your inventory stays synced with every other retailer you supply.

Section 1 of 5 · Getting connected

HD Supply Integration & Setup

How the InfiPlex HD Supply EDI connection works, and what the vendor relationship requires.

What is the InfiPlex HD Supply integration?

The InfiPlex HD Supply integration connects your approved HD Supply vendor relationship to the InfiPlex Inventory & Order Management System over EDI. Purchase orders pull in automatically, shipments ship from your warehouse or 3PL, and the ASN and invoice documents HD Supply requires post back — while your inventory stays synced with every other channel you supply.

Is HD Supply the same company as Home Depot's retail stores?

HD Supply operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of The Home Depot, Inc. since the acquisition closed in December 2020, but runs as a distinct business focused on MRO products for multifamily and hospitality customers, separate from Home Depot's retail stores and consumer-facing Home Depot Marketplace.

Do I need to already be an approved HD Supply vendor?

Yes — HD Supply works through approved wholesale vendor relationships established directly with HD Supply buyers, not a self-serve marketplace signup. InfiPlex connects that EDI relationship once you're approved and HD Supply has issued your onboarding requirements.

How long does HD Supply EDI setup take?

Your OMS site is provisioned within 1–2 business days, and EDI trading-partner setups generally take longer than a standard marketplace connection because retailer-side testing is involved. Our team scopes the specific timeline once we see your HD Supply onboarding packet.

Section 2 of 5 · Order flow

Order Management & EDI Compliance

How HD Supply EDI orders move into InfiPlex, and how the OMS protects your vendor standing.

How does InfiPlex help avoid HD Supply vendor chargebacks?

InfiPlex automates exactly the mechanics most vendor compliance programs scrutinize — on-time document transmission, accurate ASNs matching what actually shipped, and inventory that reflects real availability — which is where manual EDI processes most often break down under volume.

Section 3 of 5 · Stock control

Inventory Sync & Availability

How InfiPlex keeps your HD Supply commitments accurate against every other channel.

How does inventory sync work for an HD Supply vendor?

InfiPlex maintains one master inventory pool, and every sale on any channel — HD Supply, another retailer, or your own webstore — updates available quantities everywhere in real time, which is what prevents committing stock to an HD Supply PO you can't actually ship.

How do I update inventory in bulk?

Use the built-in Inventory Tool for direct edits, the Inventory Upload tool for spreadsheet-based changes, scheduled FTP feeds, or automated pulls from supplier systems. One update propagates to HD Supply and every other connected channel.

Section 4 of 5 · Ownership context

HD Supply's Ownership & Business Scope

What HD Supply covers today, and how its Home Depot ownership affects vendor relationships.

Does Home Depot's ownership make HD Supply a more stable vendor relationship?

Being a wholly owned subsidiary of The Home Depot, one of the most financially strong retailers in the US, generally means less standalone financial risk than an independently owned distributor of similar size — though as with any vendor relationship, confirm current standing through your own credit and buyer relationships.

Is HD Supply the same as the White Cap construction supply business?

No — White Cap (formerly part of HD Supply's Construction & Industrial segment) was divested and combined with Construction Supply Group under different private equity ownership around the time of the Home Depot deal; the HD Supply that Home Depot owns today is specifically the Facilities Maintenance business serving multifamily and hospitality customers.

Does HD Supply's ownership affect its EDI requirements?

Day-to-day vendor operations — EDI requirements, purchase ordering, and compliance programs — continue through HD Supply's own standard vendor processes regardless of its parent company; our team updates your EDI configuration whenever HD Supply issues new requirements.

How it works

How the InfiPlex HD Supply integration works

HD Supply runs a standard retail EDI vendor relationship focused specifically on MRO products for multifamily and hospitality end markets — purchase orders arrive for distribution center replenishment, and suppliers confirm shipments and invoice electronically within required timing windows. InfiPlex pulls HD Supply purchase orders into the same queue as your other retailers, generates the ASN and invoice documents on time, and keeps your inventory synced so you never commit stock you can't ship.
