Walmart seller performance standards: the six metrics that decide suppression
Walmart reviews every seller-fulfilled Marketplace order against a defined set of Seller Performance Standards, separate from the Drop Ship Vendor standards covered elsewhere on this site. Miss them and Walmart moves through three stages automatically: suppression of seller-fulfilled listings, then suspension of everything including Walmart-fulfilled listings, then termination of selling privileges. This page lists each metric, what it measures, what drives it operationally, and where Walmart Fulfillment Services changes the math.

What these are
Marketplace standards, not the DSV standards
These are Walmart's standards for seller-fulfilled Marketplace orders, evaluated on a rolling 30 or 60 day window depending on the metric. They are a different scorecard from the Drop Ship Vendor program's hour-based rules; if you run DSV as well, the DSV acknowledgment and ship rules guide covers that scorecard separately. Walmart states plainly that failing these standards can lead to suppression, suspension, or termination, and defines each: suppression removes seller-fulfilled listings while Walmart-fulfilled listings stay up; suspension removes both; termination permanently revokes selling privileges and Seller Center access.
The six metrics
Definition, standard, and what drives each one
Metric
Standard
What drives it
Cancellation Rate
2% or lower
Seller-initiated cancellations after receiving the order. Out-of-stock, pricing errors, and expired ship windows are seller-accountable; customer-requested and fraud cancellations are not
On-Time Delivery Rate (OTD)
90% or higher
Orders delivered on or before the Expected Delivery Date. Lag time settings, shipment method, and carrier choice are the levers
Valid Tracking Rate (VTR)
99% or higher
Valid tracking supplied and scanned on or before the expected delivery window. Uploading tracking before the carrier actually scans the package is a common cause of failure, not success
Refund Rate
6% or lower
Refunds caused by seller-responsible issues: damaged, incorrect, or late items
Seller Response Rate
95% or higher
Customer messages answered within 48 hours. Marking a message 'No response needed' does not count against the rate
Negative Feedback Rate
2% or lower, trailing 60 days
Orders receiving one- or two-star ratings. The longest measurement window of the six, and the one metric that still applies to WFS-fulfilled orders, since it reflects product quality rather than logistics
Return Rate and Item Not Received Rate are also exposed through the Seller Performance API and monitored, without a published suspension threshold as of this writing. Build reporting around them now: once a hard threshold is published, there is typically no grace period before it is enforced.
Walmart publishes current thresholds and fees in Seller Center and its Seller Performance Standards guide; they are reviewed and can change, so confirm the live numbers in your account.
How WFS changes the math
Fulfillment metrics pass through, product quality does not
If an item is fulfilled through Walmart Fulfillment Services, the fulfillment-related metrics on this page, Cancellation Rate, On-Time Delivery, Valid Tracking Rate, and the delivery-related side of Refund Rate, are Walmart's responsibility rather than yours, since Walmart controls the pick, pack, ship, and tracking. What does not shift is Negative Feedback Rate, because a poor rating about product quality is about the item, not who shipped it. A seller running a mix of WFS and self-fulfilled SKUs should expect their performance dashboard to reflect only the self-fulfilled side for the operational metrics, with feedback pooled across both.
Root causes
Where each metric actually breaks
Cancellations trace to inventory accuracy and order routing: a unit the feed said was available and was not, or an order routed to a facility that could not ship it in the window. On-time delivery traces to lag time settings that promise faster than the operation can reliably deliver, and to carrier or cutoff choices that do not match Walmart's expected delivery date math. Valid tracking failures are almost always a sequencing problem: tracking generated and uploaded before the carrier physically scans the package, which Walmart's system treats as unverified rather than valid. Response rate and negative feedback are the two metrics closest to customer service operations rather than fulfillment, and are the ones most likely to be missed by an integration built purely around shipping.
Automation
How InfiPlex keeps these six in range
InfiPlex allocates inventory from one shared pool across every channel so Walmart is never offered a unit already sold elsewhere, which is the single biggest lever on cancellation rate. Shipping methods and lag times are set to match real fulfillment capability rather than an optimistic promise, tracking posts only after the carrier scan confirms dispatch, and order and fulfillment status sync continuously so Seller Center reflects reality. Program details are on the Walmart Marketplace integration page; the underlying order flow is in the Marketplace API order lifecycle guide.

The questions sellers ask when a metric turns yellow or red in Seller Center.
Six metrics Walmart reviews for seller-fulfilled Marketplace orders: Cancellation Rate (2% or lower), On-Time Delivery Rate (90% or higher), Valid Tracking Rate (99% or higher), Refund Rate (6% or lower), Seller Response Rate (95% or higher within 48 hours), and Negative Feedback Rate (2% or lower over 60 days).
Walmart can move through three stages: suppression (seller-fulfilled listings removed, Walmart-fulfilled listings stay up), suspension (both removed), and termination (selling privileges and Seller Center access permanently revoked).
For WFS-fulfilled orders, yes, for the fulfillment-related metrics: Cancellation Rate, On-Time Delivery, Valid Tracking Rate, and the delivery side of Refund Rate become Walmart's responsibility. Negative Feedback Rate still applies, because it reflects product quality rather than fulfillment.
Marking an item as address-not-serviceable incorrectly, out-of-stock cancellations, pricing errors, and an expired ship window. Customer-requested cancellations and confirmed fraud are not counted against the seller.
Because VTR requires the tracking to be valid and scanned, not just present. Uploading a tracking number before the carrier has actually picked up and scanned the package is the most common cause of a failing VTR despite tracking being uploaded on every order.
As of this writing, both are exposed through the Seller Performance API and monitored, but Walmart has not published a hard suspension threshold for either. Sellers are advised to track them proactively before a threshold is announced.
No. Marketplace Seller Performance Standards (this page) apply to seller-fulfilled Marketplace orders. Drop Ship Vendor has its own, stricter, hour-based standards covering acknowledgment and shipment timing, covered in the DSV rules guide.
By allocating inventory from one shared pool so Walmart is never offered stock already sold elsewhere, setting shipping lag times to match real capability, and posting tracking only after the carrier scan, so cancellation, on-time delivery, and valid tracking rates reflect what actually happened rather than an optimistic promise.
