World Market Integration FAQs: home goods & import EDI orders, automated end to end

World Market (formerly Cost Plus World Market) has operated as an independent, privately held specialty retailer under Kingswood Capital Management since 2021, running a wholesale vendor program across furniture, decor, and international food and gift categories. The InfiPlex™ Inventory & Order Management System (OMS) connects your World Market vendor relationship so purchase orders pull in automatically, the EDI documents World Market requires go out on time, and your inventory stays synced with every other retailer you supply.

Section 1 of 5 · Getting connected

World Market Integration & Setup

How the InfiPlex World Market EDI connection works, and what the vendor relationship requires.

What is the InfiPlex World Market integration?

The InfiPlex World Market integration connects your approved World Market vendor relationship to the InfiPlex Inventory & Order Management System over EDI. Purchase orders pull in automatically, shipments ship from your warehouse or 3PL, and the ASN and invoice documents World Market requires post back — while your inventory stays synced with every other channel you supply.

Is World Market still called Cost Plus World Market?

The retailer has largely moved to the shorter "World Market" name; "Cost Plus World Market" was the longtime name before the company was sold by Bed Bath & Beyond to Kingswood Capital Management in January 2021 and has continued operating independently since. Both names are still commonly used and recognized.

Do I need to already be an approved World Market vendor?

Yes — World Market works through approved wholesale vendor relationships established directly with World Market buyers, not a self-serve marketplace signup. InfiPlex connects that EDI relationship once you're approved and World Market has issued your onboarding requirements.

How long does World Market EDI setup take?

Your OMS site is provisioned within 1–2 business days, and EDI trading-partner setups generally take longer than a standard marketplace connection because retailer-side testing is involved. Our team scopes the specific timeline once we see your World Market onboarding packet.

Section 2 of 5 · Order flow

Order Management & EDI Compliance

How World Market EDI orders move into InfiPlex, and how the OMS protects your vendor standing.

How does InfiPlex help avoid World Market vendor chargebacks?

InfiPlex automates exactly the mechanics most vendor compliance programs scrutinize — on-time document transmission, accurate ASNs matching what actually shipped, and inventory that reflects real availability — which is where manual EDI processes most often break down under volume.

Section 3 of 5 · Stock control

Inventory Sync & Availability

How InfiPlex keeps your World Market commitments accurate against every other channel.

How does inventory sync work for a World Market vendor?

InfiPlex maintains one master inventory pool, and every sale on any channel — World Market, another retailer, or your own webstore — updates available quantities everywhere in real time, which is what prevents committing stock to a World Market PO you can't actually ship.

How do I update inventory in bulk?

Use the built-in Inventory Tool for direct edits, the Inventory Upload tool for spreadsheet-based changes, scheduled FTP feeds, or automated pulls from supplier systems. One update propagates to World Market and every other connected channel.

Section 4 of 5 · Ownership context

World Market's Ownership & What It Means for Vendors

A brief note on World Market's ownership history, since it's changed hands more than once.

Who owns World Market now?

World Market has been owned by Kingswood Capital Management, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm, since the acquisition closed in January 2021. Before that, it operated as a subsidiary of Bed Bath & Beyond from 2012 to 2021.

Does private equity ownership affect vendor relationships?

Private ownership generally means less public financial disclosure, but day-to-day vendor operations — EDI requirements, purchase ordering, and compliance programs — continue through World Market's standard vendor processes regardless of ownership structure.

Is World Market financially stable?

As a privately held company, detailed financials aren't publicly disclosed; the company has operated independently under Kingswood since 2021 without public reports of financial distress. As with any vendor relationship, confirm current standing through your own credit and buyer relationships.

How it works

How the InfiPlex World Market integration works

World Market runs a standard retail EDI vendor relationship: purchase orders arrive for distribution center replenishment, and suppliers confirm shipments and invoice electronically within required timing windows. InfiPlex pulls World Market purchase orders into the same queue as your other retailers, generates the ASN and invoice documents on time, and keeps your inventory synced so you never commit stock you can't ship.

Flow diagram: World Market sends new orders to the InfiPlex Order Management System about every 15 minutes. InfiPlex pushes tracking numbers and real-time inventory back to World Market, and routes orders to Your Warehouses, 3PL / WMS Partners, Other Retailers for fulfillment.
